    The International Vocabulary of Basic and General Terms in Metrology (VIM) was prepared by a Joint Working Group appointed by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML), and was published by ISO in 1984.
