    Applies to primary coated or primary buffered optical fibres for use in telecommunication equipment and in devices employing similar techniques. Establishes uniform requirements for the geometrical, optical, transmission, mechanical and environmental properties of optical fibres. This entirely revised edition contains new measuring methods for dimensions, transmission and optical characteristics. A guide for fibres for short distance links is in Annex A.
