The procedure determines the linear burning rate (on horizontal specimens, method A) or the afterflame/afterglow times (on vertical specimens, method B) and damaged length of specimens. It is applicable to solid and cellular materials having an apparent density of not less than 250 kg/m<(hoch)3>, determined in accordance with ISO 845. It is not applicable to materials that shrink away from the applied flame without igniting. Annex A describes an associated classification system for the materials.
