The home electronic system (HES) provides a common method for interfacing equipment with a variety of home control systems (HCS), e.g. actuators, sensors, user interfaces, appliances, switches, controllers etc. An HCS is a local area network specialized for residential communications, commonly known as home automation. This terminology applies to all technical reports and standards dealing with HES.
