Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Defines preferred number and tabulates the basic series R 5, R 10, R 20, R 40 and R 80. It includes general guidance on their use and deals particularly with the more rounded values tabulating both a first rounding and a second rounding. An Appendix describes precision of the values and regularity of the ratio.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This Standard defines preferred numbers and a series of preferred numbers. The Standard includes a guide to— (a) the use of preferred numbers and a series of proposed numbers (see Section 3); and (b) the choice of series of preferred numbers and of series containing more-rounded values of preferred numbers. The precision of values and the regularity of the ratio used is discussed in Appendix A.
