This Standard specifies the safety physical and mechanical requirements for infants and children s footwear up to size 34, as well as the relevant test methods to be applied.
This standard applies to infants footwear: daily-use footwear for babies up to size 24 (inclusive) to avoid potential risks derived from the presence or generation of small pieces, sharp or pointed elements, laces, decorations and accessories.
This standard also applies to children s footwear: daily-use footwear for children from size 25 to size 34 (inclusive), to avoid potential risks derived from the presence of sharp or pointed elements, laces, decorations and accessories. This type of footwear also covers general-purpose sports footwear, indoor footwear and footwear provided with electromechanical elements (for instance, wheels, lights, etc.), although the risks that may be posed by such elements are not included in the scope of this standard.
This standard does not apply to footwear for specific medical purposes, orthopaedic footwear, traditional folk or costume footwear, and performance sports footwear (soccer boots, ballet shoes, skates, etc.).
