    La norma fornisce la metodologia per determinare le prestazioni energetiche delle macchine a potenza ridotta necessarie al calcolo delle prestazioni medie stagionali. Essa si applica ai condizionatori d'aria, ai refrigeratori d'acqua e alle pompe di calore prodotti in serie, a compressione di vapore o ad assorbimento, per climatizzazione di edifici. Le prescrizioni della norma integrano quelle fornite dalle UNI EN 255 parti 1 a 4, UNI EN 814 parti 1 a 3 e UNI 12055 che si limitano alla determinazione delle prestazioni a piena potenza ed in condizioni nominali.
