This document deals with safety requirements for the design, installation, maintenance and disassembly of electrically operated vertical platform lifts mounted on a building structure and intended for use by persons with reduced mobility: - they travel vertically between fixed planes along a guided route inclined not more than 15° vertically; - they are intended for use by persons with or without a wheelchair; - they are supported or held in place by racks, pull-wire drives, traction sheave drives, positive drives with ropes, chains, timing belts, spindles and nuts, guided chains, scissor mechanisms or hydraulic jacks (acting directly or indirectly); - they have enclosed shafts; - their rated speed is not greater than 0.15 m/s; - their load carriers are not completely enclosed.
