This document specifies requirements for the classification of wire electrodes, wires, rods and the pure weld metal in the welded state and after heat treatment (PWHT, post-weld heat-treated) for metal arc welding and tungsten inert gas welding of high-strength steels with a minimum yield strength above 500 MPa or a minimum tensile strength above 570 MPa. A wire electrode can be tested and classified with various shielding gases.
