This document specifies definitions and sample preparation procedures for the chemical analysis of raw materials and refractory products containing silicon carbide, including the following: (a) SiC raw materials; (b) graphite brick containing silicon carbide; (c) silicon carbide bricks (including bricks containing silicon nitride, silicon oxynitride, sialon); (d) refractory products containing carbon and/or silicon carbide mixed with alumina; (e) refractory products containing carbon and/or silicon carbide mixed with silicon dioxide (and quartz glass); (f) refractory products containing carbon and/or silicon carbide mixed with high alumina materials; (g) refractory products containing carbon and/or silicon carbide mixed with magnesium oxide (and dolomite); h) refractory products containing carbon and/or silicon carbide mixed with chromium minerals or magnesia-chromium oxide materials; i) refractory products containing carbon and/or silicon carbide not listed in (a) to (h).
