Objective is to remove barriers to trade between Member States in personal protective equipment (PPE) by harmonizing basic requirements for the design, manufacture, testing and certification of these goods, while maintaining the highest possible level of safety. PPE means any device or appliance designed to be worn or held by an individual for protection against one or more safety and health hazards. The Directive applies to all PPE intended for professional and private use (sport, leisure, domestic use ) except PPE covered by another Directive with the same objectives.
