    Defines the bit sequencing of the Code for Information Interchange, X3.4-1968 (ASCII) and the codes used when applying the Code Extension Techniques for Use with the 7-bit Coded Character Set of ASCII X3.41-1974, for serial data transmission. Applies to general data interchange in the ASCII and extended ASCII, at the interface between data processing terminal equipment and data communication equipment.
