This standard uses device type managers (DTMs), which are device-specific software components operating inside frame applications that serve as the host environment. This setup allows devices to communicate and work together seamlessly, regardless of the fieldbus or communication protocol used, such as FOUNDATION Fieldbus, PROFIBUS, HART, Modbus or others. It covers everything from configuring and parameterizing devices to diagnostics and data exchange, supporting both simple setups and complex, distributed systems with multiple users.
