ANSI/ISA-75.19.01-2024, Hydrostatic Testing of Control Valves, establishes requirements and procedures for hydrostatic shell testing of control valves made from various materials, including carbon steel, alloy steels, nickel-base alloys, cast iron and ductile iron. It defines the scope, terms, test fixtures, instrumentation, test requirements, procedures, acceptance criteria and specific test pressures that align with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards B16.1, B16.34 and B16.42, while specifically addressing aspects of control valve testing that differ from general valve testing practices. For example, it excludes moving seals like bellows or packing from the regular hydrostatic shell test because these parts may be damaged by the test pressure and require separate testing arrangements.
