Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Applies to solid state contactors for making and breaking currents in electrical circuits by changing the state of semiconductor devices between on-state and off-state. Covers characteristics, operating conditions, utilization categories, rated duties, endurance and ability to withstand external electrical influences. Applies also to hybrid semiconductor contactors which are also covered by AS 1029, Part 1 in respect of their electromechanical part.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This standard specifies requirements for semiconductor contactors intended for the performance of electrical operations by changing the state of electric circuits between on-state and off-state. This standard is additional to AS 1029, Part 1 which also applies provided that it is not amended by this standard. It applies only to semiconductor contactors, the main circuit of which is intended to be connected to circuits of which the rated voltage does not exceed 1000 V a.c. or 1500 V d.c. This standard applies also to hybrid semiconductor contactors, which are also covered by AS 1029, Part 1 in respect of their electromechanical part.NOTES:1. In the present absence of specifications, an agreement should be made between purchaser and manufacturer concerning voltages exceeding 1000 V a.c. or 1500 V d.c., this standard being considered as a basis wherever applicable.2. Semiconductor contactors dealt with in this standard are not intended to provide short-circuit protection of the main circuit, but may contain short-circuit protective devices for semiconductor parts.3. Semiconductor motor-starters are to be dealt with in a separate standard, at present under consideration.
