It establishes standard nominal sizes for identification or cataloguing purposes. All dimensions are in millimetres. The Standard is technically compatible with IEC 268-14.

This Part of this specification set out preferred dimensions for loudspeaker drivers of the single moving coil (dynamic) direct-radiator type having cones or diaphragms of circular or elliptical shape.The specification is limited to two sets of dimensions, viz:(a) Outer dimensions of the frame.(b) Mounting dimensions, i.e. size and disposition of mounting holes.The cone or diaphragm dimensions, required baffle opening and depth of the loudspeaker are not considered.
