This Section specifies the procedure for determining the resistance of textiles to surface-growing fungi. These fungi do not damage the fibre substance but may attack surface finishes thereby affecting significant properties of the textile. This Standard provides a laboratory test which is intended to provide severe, standardized assessment of fungal resistance under laboratory conditions. It does not include the testing of fabrics in the field which, although possibly more severe, is much longer in duration and also more subjective.SCOPE OF SECTION 2This Section specifies the procedure for determining the resistance of textiles to attack by celluloytic fungi.Pre-treatment for heating and leaching may be applied, as appropriate.
