Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Specifies requirements for the design of, methods of verification for and information to be provided with vehicle and loading cranes, including side-loading cranes.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This Standard specifies minimum requirements for the design, calculation, examination and testing of powered vehicle-loading cranes, including side-loading cranes, and their mountings, as defined in AS 2549 and Clause 1.5. It also covers requirements for cranes primarily designed to be used as vehicle-loading cranes that are mounted on a static foundation.Additional requirements for side-loading cranes are given in Section 5. The hazards covered by this Standard are identified in Appendix A.This Standard does not apply to statically mounted vehicle-loading cranes used on board ships, or manually operated vehicle-loading cranes. This Standard does not apply to vehicle-loading cranes intended for pick-and-carry operations. Requirements for vehicle-loading cranes intended for such operations are given in AS 1418.5.
