    Specifies requirements for the safe use of vehicle loading cranes. Includes sections on planning, selection, siting, operation, maintenance, inspection and repair, and limiting and indicating devices. Appendices cover terminology of parts and motions, assessments for continued use, a sample inspection and testing certificate, examples of motions that increase load moment and advice on risk management.

    This Standard specifies requirements for the safe use of vehicle-loading cranes as defined in AS 2549. It is complementary to AS 2550.1, but requirements given herein take precedence over the corresponding requirements in AS 2550.1.This Standard does not cover the specific requirements for the safe use of vehicle-loading cranes for work on or near live electrical equipment by power companies or their contractors while working for the power companies as referenced in Clause 5.4. NOTE: The basic terminology and functions of typical vehicle-loading cranes are given in Appendix A.
