Specifies requirements which are common to all classes of wood for the design, manufacture, guarding and use of machines for the manufacture of components for furniture joinery and the like. The Standard does not apply to machines used for the primary milling of saw logs into sawn green timber products.

This Standard specifies requirements for the design, manufacture, guarding and use of wood processing machinery (plant) for the processing of sawn, gauged and machined materials used in the manufacture of components for joinery, furniture, second fixings and the like. The Standard does not apply to machinery used for the primary milling of saw logs into sawn green timber products which are dealt with in AS 1473.1, or seasoning and treatment processes, nor does it apply to chainsaws, harvesting machinery and portable hand-held tools.
