This specification gives the dimensions, tolerances and material properties of slotted-head type and recessed-head type wood screws in nominal sizes from No 2 to No 18 inclusive and lengths up to and including 120 mm, having countersunk heads, raised countersunk heads or round heads, and made of steel, brass, aluminium alloy, silicon bronze, 18/8 stainless steel. The dimensional requirements of this specification apply to wood screws manufactured from materials other than those specified in the standard.Application data regarding the design and/or use of the wood screws are given in AS . . . .*, SAA Timber Engineering Code, and AS 1649, Determination of Basic Working Loads for Metal Fasteners in Timber.Appendices give preferred diameter-length combinations for steel wood screws and recess penetration gauging for cross-recessed wood screws.
