Applies to a coating in which a sealant is interposed between the pipe and the polyethylene extrudate. It is intended for use where not subject to weather exposure, although provision is made for six months' exposure during storage prior to installation. Pipeline operating temperature limits are -40 degrees Celsius to +60 degrees Celsius.

This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for extruded high-density polyethylene coating of pipes for protection against corrosion, whereby a sealant is interposed between the pipe and the polyethylene extrudate. The coating is intended for use in applications where it is not subject to weather exposure, although a safe period of not greater than 6 months of weather exposure is allowed for to cover the storage period prior toinstallation. Polyethylene materials complying with this standard are intended for application to pipes where the pipeline operating temperatures are not normally more than + 60C nor less than - 40C.NOTE: Guide lines to purchasers of coated pipes on requirements that must be specified by t he purchaser and those that must or may be agreed upon at the time of enquiry or order are given in Appendix A.
