Defines cuprammonium fluidity of cotton and man-made fibres expressed in units of cuprammonium fluidity, and sets out procedure for determining the fluidity of a solution of cuprammonium hydroxide containing a known quantity of dissolved fibre by use of a viscometer. The viscometer and a means for pretreatment of fibres which are difficult to dissolve are covered in appendices.

This standard sets out a method for determining the cuprammonium fluidity of cotton, cupro*, modal*, viscose* or deacetylated acetate* fibre in a standard solution of cuprammonium hydroxide using an outflow viscometer.Details of the viscometer to be used and its calibration, and the preparation of the standard solvent, are described in appendices.
