This Standard specifies requirements for earth-continuity monitoring devices intended to monitor the integrity of the earth conductor(s) in cables supplying power to equipment and to initiate tripping of the circuit device in the event of the earth-loop resistance exceeding a predetermined value. Additionally the device shall prevent closure of the circuit interrupting device in the event of the earth-loop resistance exceeding a predetermined value.
