This Standard specifies requirements for personal flotation devices intended for use in supervised situations to assist flotation during short-term immersion in sheltered waters during daylight hours.It is applicable to devices intended to be used in water sports or as clothing for special situations, and may not be in the high visibility colours required for PFD Type 2s.NOTE: Marine authorities have regulations covering pleasure boating and related activities, including the type of PFDs which need to be worn or carried on board when using various waterways.
