Specifies requirements for the design, construction, buoyancy, colour retroreflectivity, and marking of rescue buoys intended to be thrown or dropped to a person in water to assist flotation. It does not apply to lifebuoys required to be carried by commercial vessels. Appendix contains the buoyancy test. Materials and certain test requirements are specified in AS 2259.
