Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Specifies manufacture and performance, materials, dimensions and mechanical properties of electrically welded round steel short-link chain, together with the requirements for testing, inspection and marking and the provision of test certificates. The system of classification for the ISO quality grades is the single system type using letters. Appendices provide guidance on finishes other than self-coloured, instruments for measuring the mean diameter of chain links, and requirements for chain testing machines.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This standard specifies requirements for electrically welded round steel short-link non calibrated chain, fully heat treated and tested, quality grades L, M, P, S and T, for use in chain slings and for general lifting and other purposes. The standard specifies the materials, heat treatment, dimensions, mechanical properties, manufacture, marking, non-destructive (proof) testing for the whole chain, and destructive (breaking load and elongation) tests for test samples.NOTE: For chains other than self-coloured, see Appendix B.
