Sets out general requirements of test stations for gas cylinders (other than dissolved acetylene cylinders) including personnel, procedures, equipment, test criteria, and records. This edition introduces ultrasound test methods for defect detection and thickness measurement. Other changes relate to the roles of regulatory authorities and gas cylinder manufacturers, and the replacement of the approval concept with certification of conformity. These changes align with the changes that have taken place within AS 2030.1.

This Standard sets out requirements and procedures for the granting of a certificate of conformity to enable gas cylinder test stations to carry out initial and periodic inspection and testing of gas cylinders covered by AS 2030.1. Users of this Standard are to recognize the word 'shall' as mandatory. This Standard requires that all first-fill inspections and stampings be carried out in Australia.
