This Standard sets out recommendations for the atomic emission spectrometric analysis of metals using arc/spark techniques. It also sets out test procedures for evaluation of the associated instrumentation. A glossary of terms used in atomic emission spectrometric analysis of metals is included in the appendix for reference. Photographic instrumentation, sources of energy other than arc/spark, e.g. plasma, laser, flame, discharge under reduced pressure and instrument calibration using standard solutions are each excluded from this Standard.
