    Provides comprehensive information and guidance in planning, design, installation, testing and administration of customer premises 'integrated information technology' cabling and interconnection (e.g. carrying voice, data, text, images, video). It includes connectivity to network services of public carriers, with reference to relevant mandatory AUSTEL technical Standards. Any cable structure proposed complies with the physical layer objectives of OSI. Ancillary connecting hardware items - equipment such as passive/active hubs, electronic switching/patching, bridges, routers, brouters - are not covered. The substantive content is EIA/TIA 568-1991 (included as an Appendix) which is the current US Standard and which is the basis of an ISO Standard in preparation.
