Specifies a number system in order to ensure international compatibility. Includes a system of major industry identifiers (first digit) and issuer identifiers (next two to five digits). Provides for a check-digit. Specifies procedures for the registration of issuer identifiers in order to ensure international exclusiveness. An annex contains a form for applying for an issuer identifier number. (Identical with ISO 7812 except for an additional annex which contains further recommendations.)
