Provides guidance for the selection, installation and termination of coaxial cabling components, with emphasis on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) considerations. It is intended for designers and installers of distribution systems (primarily those for 'free-to-air' TV, subscription TV and in-house video systems). It supports legislative effort to minimize electromagnetic pollution in the face of rapidly expanding distribution networks of carriers and end users.

This Standard provides a summary of recommended cables, connectors andinstallation techniques for coaxial cabling installations, primarily those for free-to-air(FTA), subscription TV (pay TV) and in-house video services. It aims to discourage theuse of incorrect/inferior cable and connectors and/or poor installation practices which arelikely to have a detrimental effect on the system performance, including electromagneticcompatibility (EMC). The emission and immunity performance of active and passiveequipment (splitters, amplifiers and similar devices) is not covered in this Standard. The key issues covered in this Standard are the following:(a) Selection of cable and connectors.(b) Care in installation (both in locating and handling).(c) Correct termination.(d) Safety.(e) EMC.NOTE: Appendix A defines terms commonly used in the industry.ApplicationAppropriately chosen cable and connectors, correctly installed using the advice given in this Standard, should meet, and help to maintain, the system performance specifications.
