This Guide sets out methods for the preparation of samples of materials collected in accordance with procedures specified in AS 4433.1.AS 4433.1 deals with the sampling of materials from moving streams, and some sampling systems that perform part of the sample preparation on-line. Aspects of on-line sample preparation are covered in this Guide. This Guide can be used as the basis for the provision of specific Standards for the preparation of samples of materials, concentrates and coal. The object of sample preparation is to produce a sample, suitable for analysis or testing, which is representative of the original sample. This Guide describes methods for the preparation of samples for the following procedures:(a) Determination of moisture.(b) Chemical analysis, where a sample is prepared to a suitable nominal top size. The mass of the chemical analysis sample depends upon the analyses and number of determinations required. It should be ensured that sufficient mass of sample is retained.(c) Physical testing (and any other special tests).
