Sets out the grade descriptions for use with the softwood products specified in Part1 of this series. The grades are not intended to indicate a ranking of quality. They are primarily used for appearance products. Grade descriptions are given for pinus species and for other softwoods. Cypress species are covered in AS1810.

This Standard describes grades for products sawn or milled from softwood.NOTES: 1 The coverage by this Standard of all softwood species does not imply their availability nor the availability of every grade in any species or species group.2 Milled timber for window frames, sashes and sills is specified in AS 2047.3 Timber products milled from cypress species are specified in AS 1810.4 Timber for furniture components is specified in AS 4785.3.5 This Standard may be used as a basis for a third party product certification scheme.
