Provides for small snap-head, conical head, small pan-head, rounded or flat countersunk head, shallow rounded or flat countersunk head rivets. Specifies the materials, dimensions, and head shapes for sizes from ½ to 1 in. diameters. Head-forming tests and shear tests on the rivet stock and also on the manufactured rivets are specified. Appendices describe a method of determining ultimate shear stress of rivet stock and manufactured rivets, and recommended point shapes and main requirements for satisfactory driving.

This British Standard specifies the material, dimensions and head shapes of large aluminium alloy rivets of nominal sizes ranging from 1/2 in. to 1 in. diameters, intended for use in general engineering and shipbuilding. Two appendices have been included; one describes a method of determining ultimate shear stress of rivet stock and manufactured rivets, and the other indicates suitable point shapes for the driven rivets.
