Sets out recommendations for the radiographic examination of fusion welded circumferential butt joints in steel pipes in thicknesses up to and including 4 inch (100 mm) using the single-wall technique, or 2 inch (50 mm) using the double-wall technique, by the use of X-rays or gamma rays. The recommendations are based primarily on radiographic techniques which have been used successfully in industry for the examination of welds. No attempt is made to define which technique is to be used for any particular weld, because this is a matter for agreement between the contracting parties. It is pointed out, however, that where applicable, Statutory Regulations must be met.
