This specification relates to materials, safe working loads, manufacture, testing and marking of wire rope slings and sling assemblies using sling legs manufactured from wire ropes of nominal diameters from 5/16 to 2 1/4 inch and of the following types: (i) Single-part having eyes with or without thimble reinforcement, either hand spliced or mechanically spliced; (ii) Double-part grommet having eyes with or without thimble reinforcement; (iii) Double-part spliced endless having eyes with or without thimble reinforcement, either hand spliced or mechanically spliced. Various types of slings are illustrated, and safe working loads for single-part leg slings and sling assemblies are covered in appendices.
