This specification prescribes safety requirements for all ballasts intended for use in switch-start, quick-start and instant-start circuits for the operation of hot cathode fluorescent lamps. It does not apply to ballasts for use with cold cathode fluorescent lamps, requirements for which are included in AS C143.
