This specification provides standard definitions and requirements for the types of enclosure most commonly used for the protection of electrical equipment suitable for connection to supply voltages of not greater than 660 V. It does not relate to enclosures for conditions peculiar to a particular application and in such cases it is encisaged that the relevant Australian standard will embody the appropriate definition and requirement. The types of enclosure specified in This Standard are not exclusive of each other and some enclosures may comply with the requirements of more than one of the individual types specified herein, e.g. totally enclosed pipe-ventilated enclosure. In general requirements for ventilation and cooling are excluded from this specification except where specifically mentioned.
