This specification applies to fixed domestic electric ranges, as defined hereunder, intended for operation by direct or alternating current at low or medium voltage. The specification does not apply (i) to ranges or parts of ranges intended for operation at extra-low voltage, or (ii) to ranges designed for connection by means of flexible cord through a general purpose outlet. This specification includes definitions, provisions relating to construction and finish, minimum performance requirements, and standard methods of testing. Detailed requirmenets for some components, e.g. electric hotplates and multi-heat switches, are set out in other specifications.
