Applies to the use of high strength bolts complying with AS B157 in all types of steel structures erected in accordance with the provisions of the building regulations, by-laws, ordinances, other Australian standard rules where applicable, and other regulations governing the design and erection of steel structures. It is primarily intended that these Rules apply to bolts used in "friction-type" joints. Provision is made also for application to "bearing-type" joints. Regardless of the type of joint, the methods of tightening specified hereinafter shall be used for the bolts.
