This specification provides the methods of test and the technical provisions necessary for plywood adhesives based on synthetic resins, with or without additional hardeners. The quality of adhesives is determined by tests made on wood joints. The failing loads obtained on the test pieces prescribed are not convertible into terms of stress values for design purposes. The adhesives covered by this specification are intended for the manufacture of plywood. They may be required for use hot or cold, and are intended for use when the surfaces to be bonded can be brought into close contact by means of adequate pressure. Plywood adhesives may be required to show resistance to water at various temperatures, and corresponding types are provided.
