This part of AS L15 provides general information, for guidance of users, about the methods of testing colour fastness of textiles, which are described in other parts (issued separately) of the standard on colour fastness testing. In this Part the uses and limitations of these methods are pointed out, several terms are defined, and an outline of the general layout of Parts dealing with particular test methods is given and contents of clauses discussed. Procedures common to a number of methods are briefly discussed. In Appendices A and B of this Standard are described the Grey Scale for evaluating change in colour and the Grey Scale for evaluating staining.
