This is a new standard method intended to measure the strength of glue bonds after being partially wetted with water. The test piece is immersed in warm water for a specified time and the strength of the glue bond is measured on a tensile testing machine. This method is a better measure of glue bond strength than that in ISO 3038 because it applies the force in the same direction as it is applied in service, and it can be performed in a short time.

This recommended practice is intended to apply to corrugated boards in which the glue line has reached a condition of maximum cure, i.e. a condition after which further ageing at room temperature produces no further increase in wet strength.
