This Standard sets out the performance specifications and electrical safety requirements for the coaxial cable infrastructure comprising, coaxial cable, passive and active devices, installed in single and multiple unit premises to enable the high quality distribution of television and sound signals. It provides system performance requirements and apportions the performance attributable to the cable infrastructure from the input of the premises cabling interface (PCI) to the system outlet (wallplate). This Standard is applicable to coaxial cabled distribution systems in residential and commercial premises designed to carry multi-channel analogue and/or digital television and sound signals supporting free to air television (FTA), subscription television (pay TV), or in house video systems. Subscription or pay TV distribution networks include distribution via cable, microwave and satellite. This Standard can also be applied to the design, installation and commissioning of all multi-channel coaxial cabled distribution systems. This Standard also specifies minimum requirements for outlet fly leads (see Section 5).To cater for the differing requirements of digital and analogue systems, and also for various degrees of design complexities of both a network operators system and the premises cabling, categories of performance are stipulated in this Standard.ThisStandard covers the following areas:(a)Safety requirementsSection 2.(b)Electromagnetic compatibility of the systemSection 3.(c)Active distribution equipmentSection 4.(d)Passive equipmentSection 5.(e)Headend equipmentSection 6.(f)System performanceSection 7.(g)System performance: Methods of measurementAppendix D.
