This Standard sets out the method for determining the penetration of preservative into sawn and round timber. It deals with the preparation of material for testing and the methods for determining the penetration of creosote, boron, copper in copper-based preservatives, pentachlorophenol, tin, and fluorine.

Originated in Australia as AS 1605-1974.
AS 1605-1974 jointly revised and redesignated AS/NZS 1605:1998.
