Specifies minimum safety requirements, technical specifications and test methods for vehicle jacks. The requirements are applicable to screw jacks, hydraulic jacks, lever jacks, hight lift jacks, caravan and trailer jacks as well as pantograph jacks. It does not apply to trolley jacks or air bag jacks.

This Standard specifies requirements for the design, construction, performance and labelling of jacks designed to raise vehicles. It does not include devices that raise an entire vehicle. The performance requirements include those relating to ease of use. NOTE: A summary of requirements according to vehicle jack type is given in Appendix A.
