Specifies essential safety requirements for socket-outlet adaptors for approval and test purposes. In Australia it is to be read in conjunction with AS 3100. In New Zealand it is to be read in conjunction with NZS 6200.

This Standard applies to socket-outlet adaptors, as defined in Clause 4, and intended for use at low or extra-low voltage.NOTE: As of 1 November 1990, Australian regulatory authorities will not approve rewirable socket-outlet adaptors.
