    Specifies essential safety requirements for approval and test purposes. In Australia This Standard is to be read in conjunction with AS 3100. In New Zealand it is to be read in conjunction with NZS 6200 for the purposes of Clause 18.

    This Standard applies to single operator, portable machines for electric arc welding and allied processes which are designed for operation at low voltage, are intended for connection to the supply by flexible cord and plug, and which, when tested to Clause 18.11, have a rated input not exceeding 3.6 kV.A.For the purpose of this Standard a portable machine for electric arc welding and allied processes is called a machine.
