Provides a means for interchanging the necessary information to establish, at a minimum, a data link connection between two correspondents wishing to communicate. The general purpose XID frame information field content and format are described. This Standard is identical with and has been reproduced from ISO/IEC 8885:1991; Amendment 3:1992; Amendment 4:1992; and Amendment 5:1991.
